Handbuilding Class (Returning Student)
Designed for returning students, this casual class focuses on creating handbuilt ceramics, including techniques such as slab rolling, coiling, and sculpture.
Our experience teachers will help you to continue developing your pottery skills in this casual class for ongoing students. We do not operate on a fixed term schedule. Casual classes are completely flexible. Attend classes as often as you like, on any day you wish! Enjoy the relaxed and social atmosphere of our studio alongside other students at a range of levels from beginners to potters with many years of experience.
First time students will be encouraged to book in for a Handbuilding Beginners Taster class to introduce them to the wonderful world of handbuilt ceramics.
Please note: this is a class designed for adults, and we do not allow bookings for children under the age of 16.
This class does not included access to the pottery wheel.
Returning students must provide their own clay and tools, and firing is additional, charged at $10 per kilo.

What you will learn:
- Wedging and preparing your clay
- How to create and use coils
- How to roll and shape slabs
- How to create sturdy joins
- How to use basic forms to build sculptures
- How to pull handles and attach them to cylinders to create coffee mugs, jugs etc.
- Basic glazing and decorating techniques; A selection of underglazes and dipping glazes are provided!
- Creating many different forms including casserole dishes, flatware such as plates and platters, and much, much more.
What to bring:
Bring your own clay, tools, and towel. Although clay washes out easily, we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, or you can bring an apron! Shoes are also required at all times in the studio for safety reasons.
Parking Info
Please drive right past the house to the long white shed. Park in front of the shed.
Classes often book out, so book early to avoid disappointment. On rare occasions, classes may be cancelled if there are not enough students booked in – ensure you are booked in to avoid showing up to closed doors! We will contact students directly to reschedule cancelled classes.
